My Story

I was blessed to grow up in a loving, Lutheran household that provided me with a quality Lutheran education (WELS). I attended Lutheran Day School, Lutheran High School, and the WELS college of ministry, Martin Luther College in New Ulm, MN. Upon graduating, there wasn't a call available for a Lutheran High School English teacher, so after prayerful consideration, my husband and I moved to Louisville to allow him to pursue graduate studies. I began working with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Kentuckiana which afforded me the opportunity to understand the social work field, grow my organizational and professional skills, and see many difficult situations affecting children and families in my community.

Life kept on moving - my husband and I started a family (we now have four energetic kiddos!) and after staying home for a time, my Pastor hinted that he had plans for me. A short time later my husband brought home a job description that was discussed at the church council meeting for a Teach Love Connect Coordinator - a part time role that would support family ministry and education at our church. I jumped at the opportunity, seeing this as a way to follow my initial desire to work within the church. A couple months later I had interviewed and secured the job, signed up for graduate studies at Concordia University Irvine, and was underway to becoming a Director of Christian Education!
